This would be the last reflection to be presented for this semester and during the observations from the first until this last reflection, my alugbati plant has significantly grown from a small plant in a seven-eleven gulp container, to a resident on a pot that progressed alot in the span of a few months, evidenced by the increase in size, brighter color of the leaves, and the strength of the stem.

With good development of Yum-yum, that it can survive with minimal provision needed for the plant itself. As back then I always need to check upon the plant everyday whether there is progress on its growth or if it start wilting. As my friends have stated, that alugbati plants require less attention when taking care of as it can survive for a long time with minimal water and adequate sunlight.
But I made a lot of errors in taking care of my plant during the 1st shifting period, such as having an inappropriate pot for my plant storing the plant in a pot that can not hold the amount of water stored within the soil thus having the container deformed and unable to hold the soil, and having deep wall for the plant to sit in, Yum-yum does not receive the sunlight needed as the sunlight can only touch the leaves and not the soil and roots, I didn’t show enough provision in taking care of my plant as I seldom visit Yum-yum mostly only once a week only, and the method on how I take care of Yum-yum when I have time was inadequate as I was only watering it for a short time and not minding where the water strikes whether if it was the soil, plant, or nothing at all. With my lack of attentiveness caused the health of Yum-yum to decline greatly when I saw at the end of the 1st shift that Yum-yum’s leaves are wilting, its stem is weak causing the plant to face downwards rather than upwards towards the direction of the sunlight. As I realized my errors, I started to change the way how I take care of Yum-yum and started giving more attention, I asked my friends who knows alot on taking care of plants on how I can save my plant from wilting further and eventually dying.

The first step I eventually did was change my plants pot into an actual pot, and the next thing I did was to check up on the plant once a day rather than once a week, then I minded how I was watering the plants by first watering the leaves and stem properly before going to the soil for the roots to absorb, I also gave the plant MPK’s (Magnesium, Phosporus, and potassium) which is a dry powder that boosts and supports the development of plants. And as the shift ends, I have seen lots of positive progress from my plant as I was taking care of Yum-yum constantly during the 2nd shift. with a stronger stem and brighter leaves, and the sprouting of an offspring shows the plant’s health has increased.
With the start of the 3rd and last shift of the semester, I know that I would soon have to let go of Yum-yum. But I am discharging Yum-yum on a positive note, as I was leaving the plant improved and better that it was during the first few months of taking care of Yum-yum. And also, aside from improving my plant to become independent and growing, I have also learned not just from the plant, but the way how events changed as I was taking care of it. I became more mindful on how my client should be treated, it changed me into being an organized person because I should maximize my time on helping my plant grow, recording the plant’s progress gave me a feeling of happiness as I knew that my effort in taking care fo Yum-yum was fruitful as I can physically see the progress of the plant. Letting go of the plant would seem to be alright for me as I know that without my supervision, the plant could live on it’s own when placed in the right environment. This may be similar to having an actual client, as I don’t need to checkup on my client everyday even when discharged because I know that what I have taught my client on how to become independent has helped enough that they no longer require supervision.
This nurture project has ultimately changed me in how I make my documents and recorded observations, as I have no prior knowledge nor experience in making reflections, documents, etc. It became natural to me to use occupation-related terms in making my papers, the way on how I structure my sentences and flow of thoughts in making these reflections, what I should input on my reflections, and how my thoughts and words should be in line with what I am writing about. But these aspects that I have mentioned are only improved but not adequate enough for the requirements of my course. As the nurture project ends with this semester, I aim to improve on how I make my written documents for my future profession. And with the current skills I have in making reflections, I can apply these to my future document makings and further improve my observation and analysis skills.
